LeBron James apologizes for not dunking more

We haven’t seen many of LeBron James’ high-flying dunks this season but don’t think he hasn’t noticed.

The reason could be attributed to the lack of turnovers the Cavaliers are causing. James hasn’t been able to get out on the run for a transition dunk. The subject was brought up at the Cavaliers’ shoot around Monday and James issued a response.

“I apologize I haven’t been above the rim, but I’m in the lineup,” J

ames told cleveland.com. “Whatever it takes to help us win.”

James has dunked three times in five games. Chances are he’ll ramp up the dunking at some point but as of now he’s on pace for 49 dunks this year, and he dunked nearly three times that number last season with the Heat.

“I understand those are huge momentum plays,” James said. “We haven’t had too many fast break opportunities, as I have in the past. In the halfcourt they kind of put a lot of bodies in front of me. I’ve been able to find open guys.”

Expect the Cavaliers to get things going as time passes, and the James dunks won’t be far behind.
