Marcus Smart dislocates two fingers in hard fall during Summer League game

Celtics point guard Marcus Smart dislocated his right index and middle fingers after falling to the court while scrambling for a loose ball Thursday during a Summer League game against Portland in Las Vegas. 

In severe pain, Smart was screaming as trainers quickly ushered him to the bench with his fingers clearly popped out of socket. He was taken back to the locker room for x-rays and did not return to the game.

The Celtics announced the diagnosis shortly thereafter.

Smart, 21, is entering his second NBA se

ason after the Celtics drafted him sixth overall in 2014. He averaged 7.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists in In 67 games (38 starts) last season.

UPDATE: Smart returned to the bench before the end of the game.
