John Calipari reportedly sets staggering pricetag for Nets

John Calipari’s name has surfaced in the Nets’ search for a new coach. Nothing surprising about that; Calipari’s name often comes up in connection with high-profile vacancies.

On Monday, Calipari reiterated that he’s not interested in leaving Kentucky following a report saying his asking price would be astronomical to consider a move to the NBA.

Yahoo Sports, citing unidentified league sources, said Calipari wants $120 million over 10 years to leave Lexington for Brooklyn. The report also names the Kings as a team Calipari would consider if that number is met.

Calipari reportedly declined an offer from the Cavaliers in 2014 for 10 years, $80 million-plus. The current NBA price tag is aligned closer to Phil Jackson’s deal as president of the Knicks.

The thinking for the Nets, according to Yahoo, is that Nets CEO Brett Yormark is targeting C

alipari as a franchise savior in the wake of Mikhail Prokhorov’s abysmal run as their owner.
