Dikembe Mutombo was at Brussels Airport during terror attacks

Dikembe Mutombo was in the Brussels Airport at the time of Tuesday’s coordinated terror attacks but was unharmed.

Mutumbo, who was in the Congo on Monday to speak at the Saving Lives Through the Prevention and Treatment of Cervical Cancer Conference, posted a picture from outside the airport to his Facebook page with the caption: “God is good. I am in Brussels Airport with this craziness. I am fine.”

Later he posted a picture of himself with the caption: “Thank you everyone. I am safe here. God is good.”

Mutumbo, a Basketball Hall of Famer, is an incredibly active humanitarian through his foundation, which posted an update on its Facebook page.

“Today we bow our heads in remembrance for those who lost their lives in Brussels,” the update read. “A

nd we give thanks for all of the first responders offering support, strength, and solidarity to everyone impacted by these horrible tragedies. To those who are asking for an update – Dikembe was at the Brussels airport when the bombing happened this morning, and was thankfully unharmed. Local authorities are working to move everyone to safe locations while the City navigates through this act of terror. Please join us in keeping Brussels in your thoughts and prayers.”

The attacks at the airport, paired with the bombing at Brussels’ Maelbeek train station, killed more than 30 and injured upwards of 180 others.
