Cam Newton is a liar; his dab is alive and well

  • NFL

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The dab is not dead.

During his second annual Cam Newton Foundation Kicking It with Cam! Celebrity Kickball Tournament on Friday, the Carolina quarterback sent a red kickball over the fence.

Homerun, Newton — not something you hear often.

    MORE: Newton's celebrations in photos

Newton rounded the bases with his normal swagger, but as he approached the rest of his Ace Boogie team, he had a specific celebration dance in mind.

"You're going to dab on three," Newton said. "One, two, three — dab!"

On Thursday, Newton announced he was going to put the dab to rest. Easier said than done, apparently. He couldn't resist.

QUIZ: Do you love or hate Cam?

Regardless of the amount of dancing Newton did at his charity event, his signature dab was the only move that mattered.

    Long live the dab.

The Green Bay Packers had a literal who's who of skill position players on Sunday. As in, "Who is that guy?"

Trevor Davis, Geronimo Allison, Don Jackson, Jeff Janis and Aaron Ripkowski were all key contributors for the Packers, but it wasn't enough in a 33-32 loss to the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome.

While Gree夜网论坛n Bay's group of unknowns turned in a valiant effort, it was an unheralded Atlanta receiver who made the game's biggest play.

Sanu, Taylor Gabriel and running back Devonta Freeman caught Ryan's three touchdown passes as the Packers held All-Pro receiver Julio Jones in check.

With top running backs Eddie Lacy (ankle) and James Starks (knee) and receivers Randall Cobb (hamstring) and Ty Montgomery (illness) all out, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers put the offense on his back to spread the ball around to a young group.

    Kelley trash talks 'Cowgirls'

  • NFL null null null

Washington Redskins running back Robert Kelley is serving up 夜网论坛a healthy amount of bulletin board material for a Thanksgiving meeting with the Dallas Cowboys.

Riding high off a three-touchdown performance Monday night, the rookie got a little carried away talking about the key NFC East tilt and went with a not-so-original "Dallas Cowgirls" insult to get the juices flowing.

“I know nobody here like the Dallas Cowgirls,” Kelley told reporters Tuesday.

Kelley laughed it off, but the 9-1 Cowboys' third-ranked run defense likely will file that one away for later. The 24-year-old has only 424 yards rushing this season, though he's coming off his best game yet running all over the Green Bay Packers in Week 11.

Trash was already the talk around Dallas because of Dak Prescott's eco-friendly viral video. What's a little more?

  • NFL null null null null

When the NFL formally revealed Maroon 5 will be performing at the Super Bowl 53 halftime show, it invited ... less than favorable reviews.

The announcement came after months of speculation that the pop rock band would be headlining the show in 2019. But with Atlanta hosting this year's Super Bowl, many thought the league would select an artist who represents the area's deep roots in rap, hip hop and R&B.

As a result, the decision to go with Maroon 5 garnered a polarizing response from the public. The NFL attempted to offset the criticism by inviting rappers Travis Scott and Big Boi, an Atlanta native, to perform alongside Adam Levine and Co., but both artists were facing pressure to decline in a show of solidarity with former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who is involved in a high-profile collusion case against the league. Rumor: Patriots have talked with Vikings about Rudolph

  • NFL null 夜网论坛 null

The Patriots appear like they’re still searching for Rob Gronkowski’s replacement.

New England has “talked with Minnesota” about a potential deal for Kyle Rudolph, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.

The 29-year-old tight end has reportedly been on the trade block but said recently he did not want the Vikings to move him.

“I am really excited about where this offense is headed, under the guidance of (offensive coordinator) Kevin Stefanski, with the influence of (assistant head coach) Gary Kubiak. I am extremely excited about our offensive staff,” Rudolph told the Star Tribune earlier this month. “I think we have the best offensive staff in football and they’re going to put our guys in great situations to be successful.”

Rudolph, however, said there was “no way” he’d take a pay cut.

“No, I won’t,” Rudolph said. “I am too young for that.”
